Attribute Lattices: A Schema-free Unified Framework for Data Semantics

چکیده
One key characteristic of big data is variety. With massive and growing amounts of data existing in independent and heterogeneous (structured and unstructured) sources, assigning consistent data semantics, which is essential for making sense of data sources, is an increasingly important challenge. We use ontology and human cognitive principles (i.e., classification theory) to formally define the concept of attribute lattice. An attribute lattice is a graph-based, schema-free conceptual model that represents attributes of instances in the domain of interest and precedence relations among them. The class structure of the domain can be inferred from the precedence relations in the lattice. In other words, in an attribute lattice, both properties and classes are represented as attributes – they are distinguished only by the pattern of arcs and nodes that surround them (the semantic neighbourhood). We propose that this form of representation offers a unified framework for modeling data that can be used to resolve semantic data heterogeneity.

Towards A Unified Framework For Schema Merging
Merging schemas to create a mediated view is a recurring problem in applications related to data interoperability. The task becomes particularly challenging when the schemas are highly heterogeneous and autonomous. Classical data integration systems rely on a mediated schema created by human experts through an intensive design process. Automatic generation of mediated schemas is still a goal to...
متن کاملLogical Reconstruction of Normative RDF
In this sketchy paper we introduce a logical reconstruction of the RDF family of languages and the OWL-DL family of languages. We prove that our logical framework is equivalent to the normative W3C definitions of RDF/RDFS and OWL-DL/Lite. The main aim is to have a unified model theoretic semantics for both worlds. As a consequence we get various complexity results and a model theoretic semantic...
متن کاملA Dynamic Schema Navigation using Formal Concept Analysis
This paper introduces a framework for relational schema navigation via a Web-based browser application that uses Formal Concept Analysis as the metaphor for analysis and interaction. Formal Concept Analysis is a rich framework for data analysis based on applied lattice and order theory. The application we develop, D-SIFT, is intended to provide users untrained in Formal Concept Analysis with pr...
متن کاملThe Yin/Yang Web: A Unified Model for XML Syntax and RDF Semantics
XML is the W3C standard document format for writing and exchanging information on the Web. RDF is the W3C standard model for describing the semantics and reasoning about information on the Web. Unfortunately, RDF and XML—although very close to each other—are based on two different paradigms. We argue that in order to lead the Semantic Web to its full potential, the syntax and the semantics of i...

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of schema therapy and unified transdiagnostic treatment of emotional disorders on tendency to drugs in men undergoing methadone maintenance treatment. Method: The present study was a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population of the present study included all men...
